The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) is hoping a tie-up with event tech provider Cvent will help increase engagement levels at its live events.

The Canada-based organisation has signed a two-year deal with Cvent, which will see the tech giant apply its expertise to 75 events organised by the association across Europe.

“We have always realised the value of using event technology, but have been looking for the right programme to use for a while now,” Ingunn Hofseth, president and CEO for HSMAI Region Europe told AMI.

The new partnership got underway at the annual HSMAI Awards, held at The Savoy Hotel in London on Tuesday 28 January. The larger HSMAI events include the HSMAI Meeting and Event Exchange and their Awards at Scandic Fornebu Hotel in Norway.

“We expect Cvent to help us in such a way that it will take away unnecessary worries in preparing for the event, and make it easier for us to set up and handle all delegate and event information before, during and after the event,” added Hofseth.

Hofseth said the association was most looking forward to using Cvent Event App, ‘having all updated information in one place, for all attendees, speakers and crew members’.

Hofseth expects the association’s members to respond ‘positively’ to the new event technology and said the partnership was a ‘great improvement’ that would ‘make delegates happy’.
