International Confex, the meetings industry trade show, is set to move to ExCeL London in 2020.

The show, which has run at Olympia since 2013, will make the move out to East London next year, along with the Event Production Show and PA Show.

Julian Agostini, MD of show organiser Mash Media, said that the team felt that the facilities and surroundings at ExCeL would provide the best opportunity to realise the growing ambitions of each of the events. The move will also provide the backdrop for the development of UK Events Week.

Liz Agostini, event director for International Confex, said: “We thank the team at Olympia for their support since we brought International Confex into the Mash Media Group back in 2013 but we felt that the opportunity to bring our events to the world-class facility that is ExCeL London would provide the best platform to develop all three events individually and in to something bigger and, excitingly, more representative of the UK’s creative abilities across the sectors they serve.

“One of the crucial aspects of the move is the partnership we can build with the team at ExCeL London who are committed to working with us in developing the future strategy for International Confex, complementing its own domestic and international business development strategy.”

An advisory board will be set up to help shape the future of International Confex, ensuring the event develops and grows in line with changing customer needs.

James Rees, executive director – conferences and events at ExCeL, and ICCA president, said: “It is the perfect time for International Confex to move to ExCeL London. In recent years, we have seen exponential growth in our meetings and congress business and this relocation gives us a fantastic opportunity to work with Mash Media to promote and enhance the UK’s meetings industry. International Confex is the ideal platform for bringing our industry together to exchange ideas, network and share innovation and we are looking forward to working in partnership with Mash Media to encourage the involvement of all the industry’s stakeholders and associations under one roof.”

International Confex, Event Production Show and PA Show will take place on 25-26 February 2020.

This year’s International Confex takes place 26-27 February at Olympia London, with keynotes from pop star Will Young and the former director of communications to Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell.
