Prague Convention Bureau is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch of a new campaign, PCBturns10.

Since its foundation in 2008, Prague Convention Bureau has helped host more than 630 events with the attendance of almost 293,000 delegates, generating 620,000 room nights and worth more than CZK 1.2 billion (£41.2m).

Nowadays, the Prague Convention Bureau membership platform integrates 60 hotels, event organisers, congress and social venues and other service providers such as transportation companies, AV suppliers, catering services and restaurants, and hostessing agencies.

Roman Muška, director of Prague Convention Bureau, said: “Prague’s meetings industry is one of the major economic sectors of the city. It participates at the gross domestic product of the capital with 1.1 per cent and with 15 per cent at the overall tourism sector. We appreciate that the capital city of Prague is well aware of this fact and it has been supporting the tourism and meetings industry on a long-term basis.

“Since 2014, when grants for the meetings industry were introduced, the City of Prague has provided financial support exceeding a sum of CZK 23 million (£790k) for a total of 49 congresses and conferences on the territory of the Czech capital. Over the last ten years, this amount has reached nearly CZK 35m (£1.2m) but in the years 2008 to 2013 the grants were provided not only to congresses and conferences but also to other projects related to tourism support in general.”

The PCBturns10 campaign will celebrate milestones of the meetings industry in Prague, as well as significant events related to the capital and the Czech Republic. The bureau will be taking the campaign to a series of events throughout the year, the next being IMEX Frankfurt on 15-17 May.
