The Puerto Rican convention bureau has resumed operations and is confident that the island will be back on its feet soon.
The island has been left devastated by Hurricane Maria, the worst storm to hit Puerto Rico in 80 years. The hurricane battered the island with winds of more than 150mph, destroying its entire power network and leaving it under threat from landslides and flash floods.
Milton Segarra, president and CEO of Meet Puerto Rico, said: “We are happy to report that our offices are open, and all of our team has been accounted for. Our office did not suffer any major damage, and as such we have resumed operations, and are receiving emails. For the time being, please contact us via email as our switchboard is currently offline, and cell phone towers are down which is limiting communication. We trust that this will be remedied shortly.
“We are in the process of reaching out to our vendors, partners, and other stakeholders and will share further updates with you as we receive them. Our island is working very hard for Puerto Rico’s full recovery, and we are confident that we will be back on our feet soon. We look forward to taking care of you and your clients upon your return. Destination Puerto Rico is here for you!”
