Expo City Dubai – a clean, green city of the future

Based on the belief that people working together can create a more sustainable and dignified future for all, Expo City Dubai, with its state-of-the-art Dubai Exhibition Centre, will host next year’s COP28

Taking place at Expo City Dubai next year, The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) is expected to see over 45,000 participants daily, including heads of state, government officials, academics and experts, representing a vital moment as the world seeks to maximise progress since the Paris Agreement.

Its significance will be underlined by the fact that both Expo City Dubai and COP28 share similar objectives in achieving sustainability and promoting international action as essential steps towards facing global challenges.

Expo City Dubai

The pioneering legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai, which had been at the heart of the planning since the beginning, Expo City Dubai is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

With a low-rise ‘campus’ feel and world-class architecture, this extraordinary development is the largest in the world to be fully covered by a 5G-enabled network and features offices, leisure facilities, dining options and event venues. In addition to retaining a number of the Expo’s flagship pavilions and entertainment, the site is also  providing a curated innovation-driven business ecosystem to bring together global minds to embrace technology and digital innovation, supporting industry growth and the UAE’s wider diversification and growth aims.

Serious about sustainability

Expo City Dubai boasts more than 120 LEED-certified buildings and eight CEEQUAL-certified projects, each achieving the top ‘Excellent’ rating, epitomising the highest levels of sustainable design, construction and operations. It is home to the world’s largest installation of MindSphere – Siemens’ cloud technology platform that uses smart metering and sensors to monitor energy consumption and efficiency of power, light, water and climate conditioning systems. Among the attractions once again open to the public is Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, where solar panels harnessing the sun’s energy provide a glimpse of wider efforts in the city, with the largest single-site solar park in the world based just a few kilometres away.

Dubai Exhibition Centre

Located in the heart of Expo City Dubai, the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose venue offering world-class hospitality services. Spread across two campuses, the DEC offers 45,000 sqm of customisable space housed in a 60,000 sqm site, with 14 multi-purpose halls, four suites and 24 meeting rooms seating from seven to 56 persons. Located a short walk to the Rove Expo 2020 hotel, it is adjacent to the Dubai Metro station, connecting visitors directly to a host of further hotel and hospitality options, all within 15 minutes.

Dubai Association Conference

Among the events already successful hosted at DEC was the third edition of the Dubai Association Conference, which attracted more than 200 association and thought leaders from around the world in February 2022. Under the theme of ‘Associations and The New World: Resilience & Reinvention’, it provided a platform for associations to explore the aftermath and impact of the global pandemic and the shifting dynamics of professions and industries.
