Canada hosts Collision course of its life science strengths

Canada is inviting international executives to attend a hosted business-to-business event showcasing its life sciences, pharmaceutical and medtech industries with the aim of increasing its share of events in the sector.

Innovate Canada 2019 will take place in Toronto, one of Canada’s leading life sciences hubs, from May 21-24, 2019, coinciding with the Collision Conference, North America’s largest tech event.

In addition to a curated VIP experience during Collision’s HealthConf track, guests on the exclusive programme will learn about leading life sciences centres across Canada during B2B exchanges with destination and industry experts, and take part in behind-the-scenes tours of Toronto’s living labs and the companies revolutionising Canada’s life sciences ecosystem.

This is the second edition of Innovate Canada, an initiative by Business Events Canada that recognises the role business events play in driving innovation and collaboration, and growing local economies. The first, targeting the ICT sector, was held in 2018 in conjunction with the C2 conference in Montréal.

Virginie De Visscher, director of business development for economic sectors with Business Events Canada, says: “Timing Innovate Canada with the first Collision Conference in Toronto not only provides us an opportunity to showcase how well the city does large events, but it presents a great opportunity to take part in HealthConf, where the biggest minds in health tech are gathering.”

Chantal Sturk-Nadeau, executive director of Business Events Canada, adds: “Canada boasts a solid track record of leadership across the Life Sciences. Through Innovate Canada we can shine a spotlight on the cutting-edge research, breakthrough thinking and cross-industry collaboration that takes place in Canada, while also showcasing what Canada can offer in terms of hosting business events, for future collaboration, and for trade and investment.”

In addition to tapping into Toronto’s community of life science leaders and innovators, qualified guests of Innovate Canada will receive culinary and entertainment experiences, roundtrip transportation to Toronto, accommodation at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, and opportunities to extend their stay to explore Toronto.
