Covid slumber over as sleep experts choose Rome
A major international congress on sleep medicine and research will convene in Rome for its first in-person meeting since the pandemic struck.
The World Sleep Society confirmed the World Sleep Congress 2022 will be held at the Nuvola Convention Centre, from 11-16 March 2022.
The meeting will be hosted by the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine (AIMS) with assistance from Italy-based Ega Worldwide Meetings and Events.
The purpose of the congress is to connect sleep professionals and researchers to advance sleep medicine and research.
Birgit Högl, MD, president of World Sleep Society and Professor of Neurology and Sleep Medicine said the society is looking forward to being able to gather in person once again.
“Our congress will once again provide the unique opportunities and experiences that in-person meetings allow,” she said.
Convention Bureau Roma & Lazio president, Stefano Fiori added: “I am honoured that World Sleep Society has decided to hold the World Sleep Congress 2022 in Rome together with our member Ega worldwide as DMC,”
“This is a very important signal for a positive restart of our business after the COVID-19 Pandemic and we will do our utmost to support this outstanding international meeting.”
The last in-person World Sleep Congress in Vancouver in 2019 attracted 4,000 participants and completed a schedule of 12 keynotes, 89 seminars, 17 courses, 10 panel discussions and 192 oral abstract presentations outlining the research.
“We are very satisfied that World Sleep Society has chosen our company to deliver the different DMC and onsite services for their congress in Rome acknowledging our highly professional services and the passion and attitude of our staff”, says Alain Pittet, executive director of Ega worldwide.
