ACC Liverpool celebrates milestone, with a little help

ACC Liverpool celebrated its 10th birthday year with a little help from its friends at its annual showcase in London at Abbey Road Studios.

The venue was joined by 20 city partners at its 13th Showcase including Liverpool Convention Bureau, Liverpool Football Club and the Royal Albert Dock.

Guests recorded a rendition of The Beatles song With a Little Help from My Friends and took away their own CD as a momento of the evening.

They also watched a video of famous Liverpool figures – from Hollywood actor Stephen Graham to LFC manager Jurgen Klopp to Spice Girl Mel C – wishing the venue a happy 10th birthday.

Around 100 attendees in the association, corporate and exhibition sectors, along with agency representatives and entertainment and sport promoters, attended the event from a variety of organisations such as the Royal College of Nursing, BBC Worldwide and the Royal College of Physicians.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of The ACC Liverpool Group, said: “2018 has been a special year for us as we celebrate a decade since we opened our doors for the first time and hosted the opening event of the Capital of Culture celebrations.

“Since then we have been honoured to host so many incredible events. The showcase in London was a thank you to our clients and industry colleagues for bringing so many wonderful conferences, exhibitions, music and sporting events to our venue and an opportunity to look forward to the next 10 years and beyond.

“It was fitting that we held this special birthday celebration at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, after all the Beatles symbolise one element of the fantastic cultural offer clients and delegates can expect when they come to our thriving city.”

ACC Liverpool first opened its doors in 2008. Since then, it has hosted more than 2,000 events, welcomed seven million visitors and generated £1.6bn in economic impact for the city region.
