Strengthening its position as a distinctive and competitive destination for the business events industry, Azerbaijan recently won the bid to host the prestigious 73rd International Astronautical Congress in 2022. The decision was taken at the General Assembly of the International Astronautic Federation in Washington in October. The Congress is expected to attract 6,000 delegates from around the world.
With its modern infrastructure and guest-friendly culture, Azerbaijan is the perfect place to meet and do business.
This year the country has hosted many notable events including UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in June, which saw high ranking representatives and government officials from more than 70 countries in attendance. In the same month, Azerbaijan showcased its business events expertise at the UNWTO Executive Council, welcoming tourism, arts and culture ministers and delegates from around the world. Other prestigious events held this year include the World Conference of the International Society for Music Education and the IAEE Eurasian Conference.
Events in the pipeline for next year include the World Net Summit, when founders and CEOs will come together to build and discuss the future of technology. The country can also be considered a pioneer in highlighting the role of women in society as it prepares to host WomENcourage 2020, a platform celebrating women in computing, aimed at connecting female delegates to diverse technical disciplines and encouraging them to pursue their education and profession in computing.
An Eastern country with a Western outlook, Azerbaijan has an exceptional combination of antiquity and novelty with many sites of interest.
