First details released of rescheduled IBTM Asia Pacific 2021
IBTM has announced the first details of its rescheduled IBTM Asia Pacific, which will take place from 13-14 April 2021 in Singapore, at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
The 2021 event, themed ‘inventing the future’, will feature an education programme and networking opportunities designed to inspire event professionals as the industry looks to the future. Further details will be revealed in due course. The inaugural event was due to take place in April this year but was cancelled due to Covid-19.
IBTM Asia Pacific event manager Michael Jones said: “Our industry is renowned for its tenacity and adaptability, especially under pressure and now more than ever ‘inventing the future’ feels a very apt theme as we work together to recover, reimagine and rebuild.
“We are working on a range of exciting initiatives in the run up to the event, including a regionally focused future trends report which will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Together with the team at Singapore Tourism Board and our venue partners, we are looking forward to delivering a Covid-safe event with the highest quality business opportunities for exhibiting partners and a comprehensive incentive and familiarisation programme for our hosted buyers.”
IBTM Asia Pacific brings together international and regional meeting planners and exhibitors for two days of pre-scheduled one-to-one business meetings, education and networking. Already 50 per cent of exhibitor space has been sold. The event is underpinned by IBTM’s hosted buyer programme, which creates personalised appointment diaries for hosted buyers and exhibitors.
Dr Edward Koh, executive director, conventions, meetings and incentive travel at Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said: “During this period when business events worldwide have gone on pause, STB has been working resolutely with relevant government agencies in Singapore, as well as local and international MICE stakeholders, to come up with a set of robust safe management measures and guidelines to ensure that resumption of business events will be safely and carefully managed.
“One of these stamps of assurance Singapore has is the SG Clean certification. This is a mark of excellence for tourism businesses – including hotels and meeting venues – which certifies that they adhere to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control. Complemented with safe management measures which tourism businesses must adopt in the new-normal operating environment, visitors will have added peace of mind. Our priority is to ensure that Singapore can re-open safely and sustainably for visitors to return again.”
