ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter announces 2020-2022 Executive Committee

The ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter has announced its new Executive Committee (EXCO) line up for the term 2020-2022.

The new committee was elected through an electoral process which ran between 6-31 March 2020.

Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has been elected chair, while Keiko Nishimoto a research fellow at Kyoto University Graduate School of Management has been re-elected deputy chair/treasurer, alongside the co-deputy chair, Eric Abramson, who is the international project director at Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center in China.

Noor Hamid, regional director, Asia Pacific said: “As the secretariat, I congratulate these candidates for volunteering to take the lead in championing the Chapter.

“I would also like to place on record my grateful appreciation to the past EXCO, Jason Yeh, outgoing chair and current ICCA’s first vice president, Keiko Nishimoto and Anna Case, former deputy chairs who made meaningful impact and supported the growth of the Asia Pacific chapter.

“The new EXCO are here to continue that legacy and we look forward to working with the new leadership to serving the ICCA Asia Pacific community.”

On accepting the new role, Gunasekeran said: “I am honoured to be elected as the Chair for the ICCA Asia Pacific Executive Committee and grateful with the support offered to me by my Asia-Pac colleagues. I look forward to forging ahead with a whole series of initiatives with the EXCO and ICCA Asia Pacific Office so together we can continue to grow as a collective voice of ICCA.”

The ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter currently has 289 member organisations in 16 countries. These include Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

ICCA has a total of 11 Chapters and the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter represents the largest membership.
