Rheumatism meeting back in Frankfurt following joint effort

The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) is taking its mega congress to Frankfurt, for the first time in almost two decades, after a city-wide effort to win the bid.

More than 15,000 delegates are expected to attend the four-day meeting, which is being held at Messe Frankfurt, 3-6 June, 2020, and puts the city firmly on the medical-meetings map.

Frankfurt Convention Bureau director Jutta Heinrich said: “It is important for us all to pull together”.

Messe Frankfurt, the Frankfurt Convention Bureau and the Frankfurt Hotel Alliance submitted a joint-bid for the meeting, which this year took place in Amsterdam and Stockholm in 2018.

Directly after the meeting, Messe Frankfurt will also be playing host to the annual convention of the European Hematology Association (EHA), which is to take place from 11 to 14 June 2020.

Rik Craenmehr, executive manager of the European Hematology Association, said: “Back in Frankfurt again after 19 years, we are looking forward to holding EHA’s 25th anniversary congress here.

“With its outstanding reachability, international and varied cityscape and wide range of cultural institutions, the city is the perfect backdrop for our anniversary event.”

Romina Gowin-Becker, director Project Management Congresses at Messe Frankfurt GmbH, added: “This is a very welcome affirmation of Messe Frankfurt and the service we offer. As well as our locations, we provide organisers with a customised range of reliable services. We give our customers the scope for creativity while allowing them to focus on the core task of managing their congresses.”
