Biennial conference on colon disease returns to Malaysia
Malaysia will host a major conference on stoma care and diseases of the colon and rectum for the second time in six years.
The 20th Congress of Asia Pacific Federation of Coloproctology & 14th Asian Society of Stoma Rehabilitation Congress will be held in Sabah in March 2025.
The successful bid was led by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons (MSCRS) and is being hailed as a ringing endorsement for Malaysia’s business events infrastructure, given that the event was held in Kuala Lumpur in 2019.
“Malaysia is immensely honoured to host this symbolic gathering of top professionals from around the world. We hope the congress will lead to not only networking amongst experts but more importantly in innovation and research.
“Malaysia constantly aims to provide the best avenue for such congresses and will continue to express unparallel support to our partner, the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons’, said Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB.
Immediate Past President of the Asia Pacific Federation of Coloproctology, Professor Dr. April Camilla Roslani added: “The APFCP Council has once again voted for Malaysia due to the strong and compelling bid presented by the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons. I am sure everyone is looking forward to having a face-to-face meeting back in 2025 in Malaysia.”
Organising chair Dr. Luqman Mazlan said: “Winning a bid of an international congress is not easy and winning it for the second time is even more challenging. We will be proud to showcase Sabah, which has world class meeting facilities and a myriad of destinations for retreat
