Warwick Conferences beefs up sport and wellness facility
A new sport and wellness hub will launch in April at the University of Warwick campus, improving its offering for event organisers.
“The new Sport and Wellness Hub will be a fantastic venue for anyone looking to book an experiential event in 2019. Offering delegates and event managers exciting opportunities to deliver memorable courses, the hub will also be accessible for visitors staying overnight at our accommodation, further enhancing our exhibition and conference offering.” Andrew Taylor, Head of Conference Centres, said.
With Forbes recognising event coordinators as the fifth most stressful profession in 2017, Warwick Conferences is addressing this need to provide wellbeing knowledge and support.
“The wellness of our visitors is really important to us, and we hope that the new facility will help boost our already-excellent ‘downtime’ offering further,” Taylor added.
The facility will have two multi-purpose sports halls, with an arena-style balcony and retractable bleacher seating for up to 1,012 people. This includes accessible access with eight wheelchair bays. The Warwick venue also has a 25m 12-lane swimming pool with moveable flooring and disability access, as well as a new indoor climbing centre.
The new facility will also have bookable meeting and seminar rooms. Sarah Dietrich, business development manager at Warwick Conferences said: “We’re very focused on our wellbeing provision for delegates as this helps to enhance the learning experience. We currently have break-out rooms, games consoles, free-to-use bicycles, on-site theatres, cafés and cinema, in addition to nature walks and running routes, meaning delegates can enjoy their free time after busy training sessions.”
All surplus revenue produced through Warwick Conferences’ use of the hub is ploughed back into the University of Warwick, a registered charity.
The sport and wellness hub was chosen as the venue for the 2019 European Corporate Games. The event is attended by more than 100 companies and 7,000 delegates and takes place between 1-4 August. Warwick Conferences is providing event support and accommodation.
