Excitement is building as the Cairns Convention Centre gets ready to re-open its doors to conferences after a Centre refurbishment. Fitted with state-of-the-art technology and a refurbished contemporary-style interior, delegates will be treated to the latest audio-visual equipment and a fresh new menu featuring tropical local produce.
But this isn’t the only big news. The Cairns Convention Centre’s multi-million-dollar expansion is also well underway. The expansion has been designed to bring more of the region’s beautiful tropical environment inside and they are the inspiration for the Centre’s new façade, which will feature tropical plants from the region.
Exciting new spaces
The Cairns Convention Centre expansion will include a new 410-seat plenary on a flat floor that can be split into two equal rooms. The space is ideal for conferences and large seminars. Next to the new plenary is an exhibition space for up to 30 booths. Also on this level are three new meeting rooms each with capacity for 110 people in theatre-style. The flexible design of the rooms allows them to be combined or arranged into various configurations.
With beautiful views, the Trinity Room is ideal for gala dinners and large cocktail functions. The room is able to host up to 470 people. The large pre-function space outside the doors, The Trinity Terrace, offers stunning views over the Trinity Inlet. This tropical outdoor area is ideal for cocktail functions, lunches or unique events wanting to enjoy Cairns’ stunning tropical weather.
The entire centre will hold 2,500 delegates comfortably while the refurbished arena can accommodate up to 5,000.
An evolving destination
Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef region offers the business events infrastructure and industry professionalism to successfully compete with major capital cities as a global meeting destination. With wide open spaces and one of Australia's leading regional international airports, the region is highly desirable for conferences, meetings and events.
In recent years, major investment has led to the development of new five-star resorts and hotels, revitalised off-site venues and new distinctive experiences, continuing to impress new and returning delegates.
Working alongside two world heritage areas, sustainability continues to be a priority for the destination with a myriad of eco-certified tours and activities. Local event venues and operators are creating great initiatives that give back to the reef and their community, empowering delegates to leave feeling better about themselves.
There are endless opportunities to explore the region. The pristine natural environment and passionate people deliver memorable and enriching business events, ensuring every delegate leaves empowered through new learnings and enriched with genuine connections.
